It’s easy to become comfortable with routines, less careful with safety procedures, and familiar with the tools we use every day. However, in the warehousing industry, this can be incredibly dangerous. No doubt, pallet rack is one of the most commonplace varieties of material handling equipment, seemingly an extension of the building in which it stands.
Although we may become accustomed to pallet rack and other features of the workplace environment, it is important that we never take them -or our safety- for granted. Below are a few helpful tips from a pallet rack safety infographic distributed by Cisco-Eagle.

Post-Sandy Supply Chain Support
As children return to school, power returns to many homes and businesses, and people begin the long return to normalcy, Superstorm Sandy’s destruction remains scattered about the northeast United States. Thanks to many in the supply chain industry, there has been rapid movement to bring aid to those in need and to jump start the economy throughout the region. With some freight carriers arriving the day after the storm, Lynn Adler of Reuters.com asserts that many lessons learned from Hurrican Katrina are proving invaluable to the economic and infrastructural recovery from Sandy.
“By the time Sandy hit, trucking and logistics companies had topped off gas tanks, bought or rented back-up generators to power distribution and fueling centers, and shipped relief and manufacturing supplies to the Northeast that customers would need after the storm. During the storm and in the days after, these companies and East Coast railroads diverted shipments away from the hardest-hit areas and found alternative delivery options for customers.”

On Wednesday, October 10th, Xact Warehouse Solutions joined approximately 40 other material handling leaders for the 11th Annual NorthTX WERCouncil Warehousing Convention. This was a great time of networking, idea-sharing, and, for many, was an opportunity to learn about new solutions for their warehousing needs. As an exhibitor, Xact Warehouse Solutions greeted hundreds of event attendees and spent valuable time discussing with them practical applications for many of the services we offer.

Upcoming Material Handling Convention!
On October 10th, the North Texas Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) will hold its 11th Annual Warehousing Resource Convention at the Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Xact Warehouse Solutions would like to invite you to join us for this event featuring more than 40 exhibitors, including ourselves. We will be hosting a booth with the Hilmot Corporation, in Hallway C, just outside the presentation hall.
If you have not already registered for this event please consider doing so as it will be an excellent opportunity to network with peers, vendors, and customers. Additionally, there will be four educational presentations running throughout the day as well as round-table discussions. The guest and exhibitor lists for this nationally recognized event will be primarily composed of those active in the material handling industry in Texas and surrounding states. While it is not necessary that attendees be members of the North Texas WERCouncil or any subdivision of WERC, members will receive a discounted registration rate. There is an additional discount for registering before October 9th, but you are welcome to arrive and pay the day of the event.
In addition to the numerous educational and networking opportunities, attendees will also enjoy continental breakfast, hot lunch, snacks and free raffle prizes!
